Thank you so much for this beautiful and encouraging essay. We will survive. I will share with with my scientist colleagues, who are all suffering right now, and our students. The students! The future of science, just beginning in this environment! We are indeed exhausted. THE STORY ISN'T OVER YET.

Thank you Nadine. We have to be honest about how hard this is. And that we have to keep going anyway.

Ah, Soli. Another lovely piece. What I love about Sam's quote is the question: "how can the world go back to the way it was, when so much bad happened?" And the answer is it can't. The answer is not going back and it's not about the happy end, it's about going forward. It's about that stubborn and steady (even if its slow) movement forward, no matter where we are in the story. Because yes, all fictional stories have a beginning, middle and an end... but the story of lives, of humanity, of nature, has no end. We are never in the middle, we are always on the journey. And its not about the happy end or the bright, beautiful future that awaits. It's about how we walked the path, what we learned, how we passed those lessons on, and about what we did along the way.
